Trolley-assist pantograph transformer commissioned at local coal mine
APPLICATION: Coal Mining
Open cast mine hauling activities have a high cost impact in terms of diesel usage. Output may also be considerably lower if these activities are carried out by diesel-only powered trucks. But if the trucks are designed to use both diesel and electric power, a trolley-assist power line can be applied to mine hauling activities.
By applying trolley-assist, mine hauling activities can save up to 50% in fuel cost, and improve the productivity of the fleet by 10% or more.
We provided a trolley-assist solution to one of South Africa’s largest diversified resource groups. The truck automatically switches to electric mode when it detects and attaches to the overhead line powered by a pantograph transformer. And once the truck leaves the line, it switches back to diesel.
